FAQs

What do I wear to my sessions at Cup Up & Stretch Out ?

Please wear athletic attire (unless we are doing a Facial Drainage and Lift session only and for that you can wear what you like). For men athletic shorts with an elastic waist band is prefered, such as basketball shorts, running shorts (with the built in lining), and biking shorts (make sure you wear proper undergarments) . For women running shorts, tennis skirt, bathing suit is prefered. I will work into the glutes on occasion. If we only doing assisted stretching or doing an active stretch session only you may wear long athletic pants.

What should I expect for my first session?

We will sit down and discuss you: your goals, medical history, tight or stiff areas. I will then have you stand in front of me where I will do a quick assessment of how your bones stack on top of each other. From there I am able to get a good since of where I would like our session to start, and we will proceed with some light cupping and stretching. At the end I will give you a recommendation on how often you should come in, as well as what we will focus on for your next sessions.

What are cup marks, aka “cup kisses”? If I get any cup marks how long do they last?

This is caused by the breaking of capillaries and drawing the blood to the skin’s surface. The marks look similar to bruises, but they don’t injure the muscle fibers. The color and pattern of the marks can indicate the level of stagnation in the area, such as blood and Qi stagnation, toxin accumulation, or dampness. The cup marks should fade within a few hours to a few days.

What are the benefits of an assisted stretch with cupping?

Not only are you getting the combined benefits of both of these amazing therapies, but with the cupping we are now able to target individual muscle groups a lot easier than an assisted stretch alone. Through cupping I am able to release adhesions, as well as grab and lift the fascia to allow for lymphatic drainage of toxins and more exchange of nutrient rich blood, which allows for better movement, that assisted stretching alone cannot do.

Who can benefit from assisted stretching with cupping?

Well pretty much anyone. Assisted stretching with cupping is great for Athletes, Lymphitic Drainage, Range of Motion, Immune Function, those with Fibromyalgia, Edema, Insomnia, Anxiety, IBS, muscle and joint stiffness and tightness, Cellulite, scar tissue, and people pre and post surgery (please speak to your doctor first). ***Cupping is absolutely prohibited to anyone with severe heart disease, hematological diseases (hemophilia), leukemia, pernicious anemia, and thrombocytopenia.*** How ever you can still receive assisted stretching, just absolutely NO cupping.

What is your cancelation policy?

You have 12 hours to cancel before your session starts or you will be charged for it.
